This is a river we kayak frequently here in Tennessee. It’s one of our most favorite outdoor activities here. And this little Duck River to the Jordan is absolutely minuscule in comparison. And even as little as this River is here, with the overflowing from the flooding, it still seems so impossible to ever cross by the foot of man- weathering a storm or not.
God spoke to my heart this morning in reading about how God dried the Jordan River to make a way for the people He had promised it to. And all I hear is- Miracle worker, that is who He is.
The day before God dried the overflowing Jordan River, Joshua told the people, “purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.”
It was harvest season and the river bank was running over. In our human eyes, this would seem completely impossible to cross by foot. However, what seems impossible to us, is possible with God. What I found ironic studying this story this morning was something so powerful, yet so simple…
He had instructed them, take a few steps into the water and stop there. And as soon as the priests carrying the ark touched the waters edge, the waters began to move.
{It hit me that when God calls us to something, when He lays promises over what He has prompted, we need only to take the first step and trust, to touch our feet to the water and He will split seas and move the rivers. He WILL make a way.}
God doesn’t ask us to have it all figured out- Each step, each financial aspect, each year in advance. He just instructs us to take the first step, and He will lead us in the rest. We as humans are the ones that complicate it.
If there is something in your life today that you are doubting and that you are struggling moving forward in- believe in the promises of God and trust your feet when He says move. If there is something or someone you are ready to give up on because you don’t know what the waters up ahead may look like, trust that He has already calmed the waves. If there is something little or big that He has promoted you to do, stand on that. He didn’t implant that yearning or desire in our hearts for no reason. It’s not always easy, but He is always faithful.
Trust, believe, move…
